Who we are

Sisu Space exists to create a place where people can slow down, reconnect, and experience the restorative power of heat and cold. Growing up in Charlottesville, I developed a deep appreciation for the community, nature, and spaces that bring people together, values that continue to guide everything I do with Sisu Space.

After college, I went into technology consulting, which taught me how powerful technology can be for solving problems and building systems. At the same time, I noticed how easy it is to get caught up in screens, schedules, and constant motion. Two years ago, I discovered the ritual of sauna and cold plunges, a practice that clears the mind, strengthens the body, and creates a much-needed sense of presence. It quickly became clear that this wasn’t just restorative for me, but something I wanted to share with others.

A young man smiling and giving a thumbs-up next to a small, gray mobile trailer with a black door handle and a window, parked in a lot near a shopping center. The trailer has one wheel and is supported by wooden blocks.

Bringing that experience back to Charlottesville, I created Sisu Space to offer a human-centered space where people can reset, recharge, and reconnect with themselves and their community, free from the constant pull of technology. Every detail, from the wood-fired sauna to the crisp cold plunges, is designed to help people step out of the noise and into a moment of clarity.

The Finnish call it sisu, the quiet courage and resilience that carries you through challenge. That spirit guides every session at Sisu Space, creating a space to restore, refresh, and feel fully alive. I’m excited to share the heat, the cold, and everything in between with you, right here in Charlottesville.
